Wedding invite wording...

Hi guys... Getting married early June and have a proof sample of the wedding invitation... We were talking about including a dress code ... I.e. Black and White to go with our theme of black and White for the day ... E.g. Table settings, chair coverings for the ceremony, etc

We don't want to sound too pushy as not everyone will be able to go off and buy a new suit for the day, so what kind of wording could we place on the invitation without sounding too bad/overbearing?

I had the idea of: suggested attire: "black and white"

Thanks for the anticipated help :)

Maybe something that suggests people could add something black or white (ie accessory or something) as an alternative to complete attire. That way they know it's not essential to dress head to foot in the colour scheme.

Hi, and thanks for that... In the meantime she's decided against the idea of suggesting what ppl should wear ....

I think that was the right choice.

I'm glad you changed your mind! Most people would go mad if someone else wore white!
