I'm not sure if it was Aldi or Lidl, but we found that the "air circulation" meant that it became infested with flies in the summer. I've also heard of rats getting into them because of the numerous holes, though that didn't happen with ours. But we took it out of commission for the summer.

Personally I prefer the closed type which is sealed all the way around, with a base on it as well, and a small water draining hole in the base. That way you just can't get rodents in.

Thats what I was worried about.
I heard rats can be a problem.

i admit not having seen this contraption but you don't need to pay for a "composter" another worthless gimmick probably made of plastic aimed at gullible urbanites. A few scarps of timber held up by a pole in the ground maybe an old sheet of carpet on top will achieve the same or better and made from re-used material

Depends what you want to compost. Conventional wisdom is that this is fine provided you don't put cooked food or scraps into it. Even at that, it will attract rodents in some area. Depends how you feel about rats.

Every garden can have a pallet compost heap for the garden cuttings and so forth, but these plastic composters are great for kitchen scraps if you don't keep chickens etc.

They're good craic to blast their arses full of lead. Or else they'r a good supply of free cat food. Don't have well sealed compost heap meself and anything goes on it, havn't seen a rat in years either

Tried the composters that you buy from the council, gave it away because I discovered rats burrowing under it.Tried the homemade one using pallet and carpet method.Again found that the heat was attracting the rats to nest, and No there was no food scraps.....Now i recycle my waste, garden cuttings etc with my wheelie bin collectors....

Do you have a cat or are there many cats in the area?

We just put all our scraps in an old blender and bury it throughout the garden, never had a problem with rodents or anything (although no meat blended, just give that to the dog) and it composts much quicker too!
