Youngest son just home from school. He wanted a pancake with chocolate spread.
I had to have a test one just to be sure it was acceptable.

those pancakes are notoriously dangerous id suggest eating about 4-5 of them just to make sure there alright ;)

I will be dashing to superquinn after work in the vain hope that there will be any pancake mix & lemon left over. My wife can't eat pancakes, so she won't make me any :(

I may also have to sample this nutella concoction.

At lunchtime I spunked €45 on a new pancake pan from Brown Thomas, hoping to turn around some recent underperformances in the kitchen.

I think it's about SRAM Rival level.

There was a SRAM Red level one for €75, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend 2xGP4000s money on a piece of cookware.

You don't need mix, they are the simplest thing in the world to make.

    1 egg
    1 cup of flower
    1 cup of milk
Mix above ingredients in a bowl and spread on a pan.

That will make a few, depending on the size of your pan and how thick you like them.

If you make it thin, you can call it a crepe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13 Strangerthings

To me you can't beat an aul lemon and sugar one.

But nutella with bannana is also delicious...

    Or jam and whipped cream...

    Or ice-cream and caramel sauce

    I could go on...:)

Surely there are specific rules and specifications?

Yes, althought, not if yuo follow Petethedrummer's blandest recipe in the world.

I hope you're not making that for people you are trying to stay friends with.

Here is my recipe ... pass on from father to daughter ... for 1 generation.

    250g Flour
    4 eggs
half a liter of milk ( although, I personally mix it with water 350ml mil and 150 water to make the crepes thinner)
    a pinch of salt
    50 grams of melted butter
    Vanilla essence
a shot of rum ( spiced rum also works well )
I grate the top skin of an orange ( the the orange bits )
    a bit of sugar also
add water if you reckon the doe is too thick

Much of my lack of climbing speed can be attributed to the quality of that recipe.

Sounds suspiciously similar to a Belgian waffle recipe.

I endorse that product and or service. :)

I made the typos just to make it more ... eeerrrr ... euro. Imagine my thick french accent reading it to ... RohRohRoh

My fave pancake is from www.pancakecottage.com at Molls Gap Kerry.

Blue Cheese, baby spinach leaves, walnuts and maple syrup.
    It is truly a revelation.

Also like a pancake stuffed with choccie buttons.

    How much sugar?

    And don't say a bit!

It's not really necessary. I usually just add a couple of table spoons, but sometimes I don't. I do that when I don't too much filing to 'kill the goodness of the crepe'.

Try cooking some apples, with a zest of lemon, sugar and cinnamon as a filling. It's nice.

Yeah you could do all that messing... or you could try mine. And put rashers on it.

Rashers make everything good, that's cheating!

Burst out laughing when I read rashers

is there a way to remove this thread?

was planning on asking mrs to make blueberry and flaxseed healthy pancakes but seriously reconsidering.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Bought pre-made mix and I still managed to get it wrong...pan wasn't hot enough. But only half were ruined.

Made me feel better that some people were queuing out the door of Superquinn waiting for freshly-made pancakes.

    Lazy bastards.
