3G charges

    Hi Guys,

Just a question regarding the 3G roaming charges,

I have a IPhone 4 and I'm with O2 bill pay, now just to be safe and in case I'm not spending any unnecessary money on the bill i turn off 3G, Cellular Data and Data Roaming in the Network menu when I'm away from a WiFi spot.

Am i right in thinking if these are all on but I'm not using anything that would need these on at the time E.G: internet, Mail, Maps, that the price on my bill would go up?

Or is it a case where it doesn't charge me until i open up an app that would need these on?

If you turn off cellular data, your phone will never ever use data when away from WiFi.

However, you are aware that you have a generous data allowance in your billpay package, you shouldn't need to disable cellular data? An iPhone is just an insanely expensive iPod touch (and useless IMO) without cellular data.

So simple answer is it won't cost me any more than I am paying at the moment if i turn them on?

Which ones do i turn on, 3G and cellular data? Or all three?

That's the simple answer. If you bought your phone from O2, then you should have a 500MB allowance per month for which you won't charged. Turn on cellular data and 3G but leave off Data Roaming - that's only for using data when you're abroad (not cheap).

The 500MB allowance is stingy, but there's no way you will exceed it unless you're spending hours on youtube and the likes.

    both.

3g is the type of connection, it's faster, better call quality and general faster connectivity to the cellular network.

cellular data is allowing the phone to connect to the internet from the phone.

turn both on for proper iphone experience.
