hi guys, i changed out a set of spark plugs on a 99 corolla 4E-FE. there was a serious stretch on one of the leads, when i went to take the new lead back out a silve connector remained on the spark plug. i have put all leads back in but the engine wont start.

so i am wondering is it a mix up at the distribution cap or something else?? does an one have a pic of how the leads should be put on to distribution cao

Bit dark out now so I had to use flash. I then inspected the cables by hand and I am pretty sure this is the mapping. Whenever you replace plugs or work with these leads, you should always do one at a time, that way you can't get them mixed up. Hope this helps and a big salute to a fellow 4E-FE Corolla owner.

What browser are you using, try Firefox, then try IE. Clear your cache, reset browser settings to defaults. Come back here and log back in. You should then be able to see my image.

Can everyone else see it in post #3 above?

Jesus, apologies to all, I was seeing it fine in post #3 but when I forced a refresh (Ctrl + F5) it disappeared. I was looking at a cached version of something that no longer existed.

Should be fixed now! - See post #3 above

When I read dizzy cap I see in my mind a massive plastic cap with points etc inside and the little chimneys on it for the leads. I had to go out to my own tub and make sure I wasn't dreaming.

:D Yea the entire thread was like a mis communication from the start. Images that were not really there, distributors etc.

just an update on the problem, car wouldnt start due to a flat battery so got it started and the car seems as if it isnt picking up a spark from a plug. so that is tomorrow mornings assignment, a mechanic would be cheap at this stage !!!

I had a dud new denso plug on a 4efe motor. Ran like a diesel, pulling each lead and listening for any change in roughness led to the dodgy sparker.

If you stretched the lead you may have damaged it, if the lead can't carry the full current the car won't spark properly

Could be a dodgy coil pack. You can test them by measuring resistance. I can post the parameters if you want to test.
