    Hi everyone,

I'm looking to organise an Endurance Lifting Contest at SanoVitae with the date most likely to be Saturday April 23.

Entry would be absolutely free and I will organise prizes for the winners.

The contest will be open to members and non-members, so everyone is welcome to enter.

If you have any questions, just ask. I'll post some more details if there is any interest in it.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Wondering what you mean by 'endurance lifting' - is it something a la crossfit, or something different? Also, what kind of lifting?

I'm definitely interested as I finish my exams the day before. What events are you thinking will be in it?

The event featured in Endurance Lifting Contest will be a Vertical Lifting challenge.

One of its pioneers of Vertical Lifting is Dragan Radovic, who has developed his own 4 x 4 method with it. Basically, he uses the method to demonstrate how by simply using one upper body exercise, you can develop an incredible level of cardiovascular fitness. As most of you will be aware, the majority of cardiovascular exercises tend to focus mainly on using the legs to improve general fitness.

Described by 3-time World’s Strongest Man, Bill Kazmaier, as ‘one of the most impressive strength athletes I have ever encountered’, Dragan has become famous in the fitness industry through his Dragan Challenge. This involves attempting to lift two16kg overhead for more reps than Dragan. In 10years and aged 60 years old, he has never been beaten, despite being taken on by thousands of challengers from every corner of the globe and every sports background.

    See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0pQ7-sKno for more details.

The event at SanoVitae will be held by Indira Ward. While Indira is trained and certified through Dragan, she has taken the method to new heights by mixing the 4 x 4 with a variety of extremely tough bodyweight exercises. This makes for a very challenging, yet infinitely rewarding workout.

I’d be extremely surprised if anyone (girl or guy) on Boards can outperform her in a Vertical Lifting Contest. 15kg or 20kg dumbbells– we can vote on what weight to be used for the Challenge.

Indira will simply push you to your limits so you can perform at your very best. Whoever does the best out of the competing participants will be declared the winner.

It'd certaily be interesting to see how people on Boards would do, given the different training methods they use (e.g. Powerlifting, Crossfit, Metcons, Sports Conditioning etc).

Finally, while it’s a contest, I encourage everyone to come along so they can find out about Indira and her style of training – she really is fantastic and I guarantee everyone will go away having learn something from the event.

I'll post more details regarding the prizes when I have them.

So who is up for the Challenge?! :)

Well train with those to prepare for the contest!

    needs more Log and/or axle.....

needs more deadlifts/squats/anything that's not overhead pressing...:(

(although I gather that kind of defeats the general concept:pac:)

It won't necessarily be the person who is the best at overhead pressing who wins the contest.

Besides it will be interesting to take people away from what they are used to doing (e.g. Prowlers, Metcons etc) and see how it all crosses over when they try something foreign to them.

According to the 5-3-1 manual that would put his estimated 1RM at 641lbs per arm

    Awesome

The contest will be held Saturday April 23 at 2pm in the fitness studio at SanoVitae IFSC.

All you need to bring with you is a bottle of water. We'll supply the towels - you'll need them! ;)

By the way, here is a clip of Indira, who'll be hosting the seminar. It's promo of a recent documentary, which was made about her:

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick update regarding the Enduarance Event.

There is only 1 event. That's the alternate curl and press done in The Dragan Challenge. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj0pQ7-sKno to get an idea of the lifting technique used.

The weight is 15 kg dumbbells and it will be the first to reach 100 reps.

Prizes will include many nice supplements!

    Hope to see you there.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    50 reps an arm so?

Might actually call in to this since I'm stuck with upper body training at mo! 7kg sounds handy enough. ..Strict press yeah? What kinda time would you be aiming for?

    Haha a curling competition..epic :pac:

Yeah it is a strict press. Not a push press so no bending of the legs. Also no bending at the waist to assist the curl.
What kinda time would you be aiming for?

With 15kg dumbbells, I'm giving myself a full hour! :D

    Sure.

As for the time taken to complete the 100 reps, any time under 5 minutes is good.
