After the shoot in midlands yesterday. Tack dev and my self went for a shot.
We tried a place for bunnies but there was none to be found. So we had some gourme food in super macs.
    Top shelf lads.
Anyway the lads between them have plenty of ground to shoot and they came up with a plan of attack.
And I have the results here.

It was a draw. One fox each. And a night of slagging and havin the crack.

Cheers lads. I had a great day at the shoot and great crack out lampung with ye.

We'll have to go for round 2 soon!

I had not laughed as much in weeks as I did yesterday:D:D

We did not have the sound measuring thingy to be sure.

Dev's new ASE is very slim and looks well on board his CZ,it also works well.
The difference between his and Paulos T8, very hard to call if any.

I forgot, I should have used Dev's ASE on my .308 as we are the same thread. Paulo has a metric thread.

I thought devs mod was louder than mine but that was by very little and might be because I was off to one side of him when firing and I was behind my own rifle when firing so position might have a lot to do with it. Tacks mod was very quiet considering hom compact it was and he was firing a .308.

We will have to do it properly with a sound metre.

I find very little difference (except recoil) firing .223 or .308 out the ASE for sound.

I don't think I have ever laughed so much on a nights shooting before.
The general p**s taking and an ole fox is all anyone needs :D

Well I have to get one as well as poulo decided he wanted a souvenir from the night and I taught the foxes would have been enough :p

It was great not to have to lamp on my own. We lamped for hours. I would have given up way before hand had it not been for the company, and the slagging, and Gourmet food!

Two Magnum ice lolly sticks. 1 thin piece of plastic (from a packet of ham-works well)
Tape the plastic to one lolly stick, create a small gap by adding a bit of insulation tape to each end of the stick, them put the other stick on top, and tape ends together.
This is a brilliant way of making callers, and you can experiment by adding more layers of plastic etc.

Thats a very cost effective caller and you get the pleasure of the magnums aswel :)

I have to say I'm finding the caller very effective. I have two foxes got with it plus a team effort last night.
Also I love the .223. It is a great foxing caliber. I still haven't got a chance to try a longer range fox yet as last night was a 60 yard shot into the chest which was an instant kill with a bit of an exit wound.
I will never look back from the .223!!

I hope to have my .223 back either tomorrow or Sunday.
    Barrel arrived today.

The .223 is more devastating on a fox @100 yards or less than the .308.

I'm off Sunday night if you want a rematch :D

I have this caller and am sometimes amazed with it and other times let down (no two foxes the same i guess) but im fairly sucessfull with simple lip squeaking.....
When out next could ye put up a couple of calling tecniques/ samples on the tube to compare (far out & close up) if not too much bother.......

    tanx c30......

Paulo said something to me, with the squealer you can vary pitch and length of squeal.

Foxes that have been called before might be wary of ucallers etc as the pitch and tone is repetitive.

I have Dev's caller. I might try it in an hour and see if I can call any foxes before I head back to the big smoke.

I found the Acme caller to loud, and myself and Dev had no luck with a Ucaller in an area that has 3 foxes in it

The cheapest one might be the best

I have the foxcall pro but in my opinion the WAM foxcaler is the better of the two.

To quote Robert Bucknell '9 out of 10 foxes which expressed a preference preferred the WAM'

He also said you should bring as many different callers with you as you can.
Where one won't work the other might.

I have one of those foxcall uk calls but find that if used continuously for a while the reed would get stuck to the plastic moulding and you would get a sound like blowing into the wrong end of a tin whistle! Found it great to get a fox in rushes/cover to look up though!!
