To the unknown cyclist who shouted at me this morning at junction of Sth Circular Road and Emmet Road at about 8.30 a.m., thanks. From your side of the junction you saw a car coming through the junction from your left well against the red light, so you shouted over at me. You made me stop before i took off, and just as well as otherwise i was straight under his wheels. didnt even get to see the make or model of the car he was going so fast.

just wanted to say thanks if you read this.

Yes, he was waaaay late and moving at speed. So late, in fact, that I wondered whether he was even aware of the lights.

It was, I think, a navy blue Opel Corsa, wearing an L plate - that was all I saw. Actually, I roared something impolite at the driver, rather than anyone else around. Were you the guy on the big sports-tourer? I guess your helmet filtered out my words. But I'm glad you heard my shout and I saw you grabbing a handful of front brake just in the nick of time.

There are a couple of junctions along my route that can be fairly bad for that carry on, though rarely THAT bad. I always do a quick check to my left & right before pulling off from a standstill, as the green just can't be relied upon 100%.

    Good luck!

I'm sorry, please clarify. Are you the guy on the sports-tourer? Or the driver (in which case I'm surprised you have the wit to operate a keyboard)? Or was it someone else who heard my shout? Or something else altogether ..... ?

Not sure, obviously, but I assume he is amazed at the chances that you both happened to be boardsies.

So often a thread like this appears but the thanked person is never a boardsie.

if by sports-tourer you mean a motorbike, then that wasn't me but i did see him there at the junction having an animated discussion with another person shall we say!!!! i was the guy on the blue and white bike wearing a flourescent jacket. im usually very careful moving off from junctions, but with his speed and the fact he was coming from a blind corner would have left me with no chance. So thanks again.

    So thanks again.

You're more than welcome! I'm glad to learn that my candid critique of the driver's actions has had such a beneficial effect.

LOL! Poochiem, re. my reward, that's just what I was thinking!

On top of that, being a cheapskate, my drivetrain is now on its last legs and this morning was the first time that the worn chain has skipped under load. But it did it in style, as I was pulling away from a set of lights (not the same set) and my knee whacked my 5-LED Cateye and sent it flying. Clearly, my reward lies in Heaven!
