    Hi All,

I'm looking for suggestions for holiday locations. It would be a couples holiday and just looking for any ideas you may have. Our idea of the perfect holiday would be similar to whats found in the below thread, but I'm just seeing if there are any other locations.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056154972

Basically, We're not big into the night life while on holidays, We would rather good food, peace and quiet, some sun, and nice beaches. Cost is a factor, as we would rather not pay a fortune, but are willing depending on the location.

    So...any suggestions welcome,

    Thanks in advance.

Myself and the wife went to Gozo Malta a couple of years back for a wedding and we loved every minute of it and can't wait to get back.

Tiny island which means you can explore the whole island in the less than a week.

Food was, on the whole, quality with very good prices.

Only downside is the lack of many sandy beaches but there are a few to be found.

Ryanair fly to Malta and its a 30 minute ferry to Gozo.

Kepinski Hotel in Gozo the best hotel I've stayed in (bar Thailand) in my life. Made to feel like Kings.

Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks, had a quick glance on booking.com to see what it looked like. Looks really nice, I'll investigate further at the weekend. Cheers for the recommendation.

I'd recommend the Istria region in Croatia. It's very reasonable there too, and food rocks!! They put truffles in everything. Yum!

Plenty of places to stay; hotels, apartments, B&Bs, campsites.

Beaches are stony rather than sandy, but they're really nice and the water is crystal clear.

If you hire a car, there's loads of options of day trips; Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia - a real undiscovered gem), Venice (or you can get there by ferry!), Plitvice Lakes (I don't think I've been anywhere so beautiful in all my life), Zagreb (Croatia's capital - meant to be well worth the visit, though didn't make it).

You can fly to Venice from Dublin with Ryanair/Aer Lingus which is three hours' drive from Istria (and makes for a great day or two somewhere else). Or if you're willing to change in Stansted, you can go to Trieste and Rijeka which are less of a drive, or to Pula which is basically a case of get off the plane and you're there.
