    have a mineral bucket with a scoop in it fill the scoop and walk along throwing it out- its just a little meal scoop but holds enough to do one side of cubicles

    Same as Whelan but just throw it out of the bucket with my hand. (Helps to keep them soft :D )

    I mix it with sawdust, use a black rubbish bin and spread it by hand

    I also mix it with saw dust. Helps keep the cubicles drier and cleaner i find and spread it with a little coal shovel.

    Does anyone use hydrated lime as in whitewash, it gives a better kill but it must be very severe on udders and teats

    yes - we find it fine as long as we don't use the iodine-type teat-dip aswell as it, using the two together seems to cause irritation.

    I use hydrated lime, store it in an old aluminium milk churn and spread it by hand, a handful to each cubicle about twice a week.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    I use it in the calving pens. Sprinkle a bucket full on to the bed twice a week. Keeps down infections and sickness. No adverse affect on cows or calves.
