Not exactly sure where to put this so feel free to move it mods

A few friends and I are finishing the leaving cert this year and instead of going abroad we were thinking of renting a cottage or house outside of Dublin for a week during the summer.
There would be a 10+ group of us aged between 18 and 20. Were aware that we may not get all of us into one cottage/house so 2 or 3 of them in close proximity would probably be best.
Does anybody have any experiences doing this and what would be the best way in going about it?

Must also mention that we would need to be able to get there by public transport, whether it be by Bus Eireann or a train and then a taxi to the location
