Complete beginner, need help with soundcard.

Hey guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I bought my boyfriend the Hercules dj controller mp3 e2.
I also got this external sound card to use with it.
He's using windows 7 on a HP G62 laptop.

My question/problem is when he goes to play track one on the main speakers and then preview track two on his headphones, both tracks play through the main speakers. We've tried everything to stop it but nothing seems to work.

Can anyone shed some light on what might be wrong? We've set it up according to the info from the hercules site.

Is the sound card compatible with the equipment? Can we route track A through the internal sound card and speakers and track B though the external sound card and headphones? If so, how would I go about that?

What software are you using?

The sound card isnt compatible im afraid, needs to have 2 stereo outputs at least in order to preview tracks

Not sure about the software. Thought he just installs the hercules program and he can mix on that? He really is just a beginner so just wants to learn the basics of mixing/fading/scratching etc.

I thought the problem was with the sound card. That was my only explanation. can you recommend one that would be compatible?
