Is this a dairy show and sale? What are the pedigrees of your heifers? Are you putting a bull into the IHFA sale at the end of the month

    Hi stanflt,

When you bringing good stock like that would you ever consider putting an advert on the likes of donedeal to maximise interest/bids from maybe guys that would normally not be there... like what these lads producing replacement in calf suckler heifers do?

Just a thought or will there be enough dairy boys there on the day anyway, 3 euro like if it only tempted one lad from a bit further away the to mart that bid wouldn't it be worth it?:)

no not many. didnt use a lot of him. milking a lot of omans-did really well for use left smashing stock, he brought out the best in our typey cows- a lot of breeders dont like him. looking forward to 2moro as we are classifying 51. everything always happens the same day:)

Do you do any prep for the classifier, how much milk do you leave in them?

shaved all tails and a few udders this morning. classifier coming at 11am. split herd during this evenings milking-should seriously consider draughting gate.

how do you get on with dairy stock at marts. do you sell irrelevant of price or do you bring home cows that dont make good enough money.

very nervous of bringing stock to marts, every disease in the area get to meet under one roof, then if stock dont sell, you have to bring them home along with what ever else they have picked up.

the rare time it dose happen we quarantine for a month after wards.

been selling through the ifj and work of mouth for as long as i can remember, always got on well.
    sold 8 a few weeks back ave €1650 for 1st, 2nd and 3rds.

go 2 mart 2sell- have sold 10 1/2calvers this month avg 1500-in just a normal sale. dont like selling from home. when potential buyers see the herd they only want buy the best ones-when i go to the mart i can pick the one i want to sell.

from a sales point of view the typy stock are still making a lot more than the high ebi

We would always use the local mart for selling store lambs. Got £108 for a lock of fat lambs a few weeks ago just outside Omagh, Tyrone. Should help out with the damn feed bill anyway.
