    Hi everybody.

I'm in the process of writing a short essay on how social media are changing the ways firms promote their brands and how consumers think about making purchase decisions. I've drawn a complete blank the last few hours. Any advice or opinions would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Trevbren,

Here are some sites which should be very useful for your social media essay:

http://mycustomer.com - which outlines how brands use social media (some effectively, some not so effectively)

http://mashable.com/social-media - which features an extensive number of blogs about social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.

    Good luck with it.

    Best wishes,

If anybody has any thoughts or ideas I could use I'd appreciate it. I'm at the end of my rope and just cant seem to focus and find relative information that answers my actual question. I'd appreciate it everybody. I have to hand it up on tuesday afternoon. Only got the topic on friday. Thanks

It's a very broad topic, so you might find it a little easier to get 'into' at the beginning if you focus on a specific angle/niche.

You might find taking a look at Louder Voice beneficial and spark an idea for you. Even better, if you can get Conor chatting on twitter I'm sure he'd be able to give you a few super ideas to think about.

Here is a link describing the light touch approach thats necessary in social media marketing-it might be of use to you

Another angle that I havent heard anyone discuss is-how social media marketing is affecting the way companies market themselves through the traditional media-especially TV.
