Do dealers expect you to haggle or do they expect you to pay the asking price? Negotiationg at the moment. It's with a large dealership! Any tips welcome!

If your trying to haggle keep it humorous not aggressive, and always haggle in person not over the phone or by email.

Thanks, he's a nice guy and we've struck up a good banter! I'll keep it light, no harm trying! They do expect it though??

Course they expect it! Remember, it pays to be nice. Don't be aggressive, keep it all friendly but firm.

And remember that the best bargaining tool you have is the ability to walk away at any stage if you wish

Do they expect it? Yes. THey would laugh their arse off if you gave them asking price.

Thanks, I'm going for another test drive tomorrow and I'll have more confidence now that I know I can negotiate! Really want that car but will have to curb my enthusiasm a little! ;)

Apart from price drops, consider extended warranties, new tyres, bits and pieces - they will usually have a price below which they won't go, but other things are more negotiable.
