Can anyone advise if a RC can act as god parent for a baby at a COI baptism?
    Many thanks.

Im certainly not an expert but i suspect it depends on how the parents feel.
Im a defected catholic and atheist and my sisters, with full knowledge of this have had me as god parent for three of their kids between them.
    Go figure!

the idea of being a god parent is that you will bring the child up in there babtised faith if something should happen to that childs parents.

i dont think a catholic would be allowed to bring a child up to be a protestant in the sense of baptisem.

No problem on the CofI side. As to what the RCC might have to say I don't know.

There was a thread here a couple of months ago. It looks like there would be a problem from the RC side:

According to the info in the above thread a special provision that deals with this very issue is made regarding the Orthodox Church. Pity they did not do the same for the Anglican Church.
