Itunes - can't sync iPod

    Hey,

So today I wanted to add more songs to my iPod - however in iTunes it doesn't say "XXX iPod" and I can't find any other way to add songs. Normally after adding songs to iTunes I click on "XXX iPod" and then sync iPod.

I can add the song into iTunes, just not onto my iPod.

Currently I have 267 songs taking up 1.29gb, however my iPod is 8gb so I should be able to add more songs.

I have no photos/films on my iPod, only music.

    TIA for any help!

You've the iPod attached to the PC and iTunes can't see it, is that what you're saying?

If you press Ctrl + Alt + Del are the programs 'ituneshelper.exe' and 'ipodservice.exe' running?

    Yes, that it's exactly.

I tried this (when iTunes was open) and all it showed me was a blue/turquoise screen saying:

    Lock This Computer
    Log Off
    Switch User
    Change a password
    Start Task Manager

And a button saying "cancel" (which I clicked on).

Click Start Task Manager > Click on the processes tab and check and see if either of the 2 executables are running. One is for when your ipod

    Still not working.

Could it be that the iPod that's on it's last legs? and I may need a new one?:(

Do you know how to reset (effectively reboot) your iPod?

If not, tell us what model it is - Nano, Classic, Touch?

Your iPod is a 2nd generation Nano, you should refer to it here in future as a 'Nano 2G'.

Disconnect the iPod from your PC.

    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)

This is the switch on the top of the unit, push it towards the centre and then back to it's normal position.

    2. Press and hold the Menu and Centre (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. This a job for two thumbs.

As soon as the Apple logo appears you can release the buttons, then when the menu appears, connect it to the PC and see if you can sync.
