I have a 04 Avensis (1.6l) and am thinking about a 08 Golf tsi (1.4l). I'm finding it difficult to find the Mile Per Gallon or Kilometers per litre on either. Fuel is very expensive at the moment and would be a big enough factor for me.

Anyone any ideas? The golf has to be more efficient as its smaller...

If it's the 1.4 TSI, then it is a turbo and should have substantially more power than your old Avensis.

Hard to say but with a lighter body, you get get similar miles per gallon out of both.

It's very hard to say as different version of that engine are tuned to give different power and as the 1.6 Avensis was only sold in Ireland, it's very difficult to get MPG figures for that car.

www.parkers.co.uk would usually have the figures you'd be looking for.

I have the 1.4 TSI and it averages about 35 mpg but thats mostly short trips and urban driving. Should see over 40 mpg on longer trips provided your light on the fun pedal.

Wouldn't say your going to save anything fuel wise over the Avensis.
