Multiple computers/iTunes confusion

So, I finally got a MacBook for apps development, so I want to transfer my iTunes library from my work laptop to it.

I transferred all the songs via Home Sharing, but when I go to synch the iPhone with the MacBook, it says it will wipe all the apps, music and photos.

I am confused as to what to do. I want to use the MacBook as my primary computer for iTunes, and I have authorised it.

If I cannot manage something like this, it doesn't bode well for app development. :o

I think instead of using home sharing you should have copied the whole itunes folder over to the mac. Otherwise it will treat it as a new library and want to wipe out the contents of your iPhone and start again.

Have a look at the follow link

    Hey Professor,

I have a question. Just dug out 2 quite old iPods that have tonnes of music. I think one is an iPod mini and the other an iPod classic. Is there any way in which I can merge all the music from these two to my current iTunes account so that I can then transfer the songs to my iPhone 4 ?

    Thx

EDIT: Worked it out - now have an extra 2,500 songs :D - dont think I used the mini since 2005!!!!
