Movie tropes

Are barmen in movies forever destined to pop up suddenly blasting a shotgun with total disregard for their own mortality, only to take a round too many to the torso resulting in a dramatic tumble into the cheap vodka behind him that may catch fire in the ensuing action?

My actual question is, what are the most common retro movie tropes/cliche (or your favourite)?

Just finished watching total recall :)

The two fellows carrying the pane of glass across the road, still pops up in some form since the Silent Movie age.

If the movie is almost over, and the Female Lead is holding a gun to the Bad Guy, the Bad Guy is dead. He has no chance. He's going to underestimate the Female Lead's strength of will and try to talk her out of it, then make a spectacularly dumb lunge for the gun and get shot.

And he'll die in slow motion.

    Every time.

And afterwards the Female Lead will have an expression of either great distress, or grim, traumatised determination. She'll never be cool with it like the Male Lead would have been. She's a girl.

Thankfully that attitude has moved on a bit with the industry...:)

The old swinging mirror trick is a bit outdated now too, when there is a shot of a person, usually in the bathroom looking at themselves then they open the cabinet, close it and suddenly a reflection of a figure appears.

Edit : Ah, found a dedicated clip...
