A mate has given me her iPhone 4 to have a look at..
She can't make or recieve calls on it but she still gets 3G coverage. The phone shows no signal bars but you can go online with it no problem.

I put the sim card in my iPhone 4 and it works as normal, can make and receive calls. I backed up the phone and did a full restore but it's still the same..

Anyone any ideas?? She's been onto 02 and they sent out a bumper to fix it :p
She was also onto apple, they've asked her to bring it to a repair centre to have it restored to factory settings but unless I'm mistaken that's what I've already done...

If your SIM works properly in it, then it is a problem with her SIM, or with her account on the mobile network - she should call her network operator and log a fault report, confirming that her handset works fine with another (your) SIM in it, but her SIM can't make/receive calls.

Have you tried her SIM in another handset?

Her sim worked fine in my phone... I got it sorted, she was disconnected a few weeks ago and when she was reconnected the iphone needed to be re-activated. For some reason it never did.. Read up on it last night and it seems the only thing to do is keep turning it on and off till it activates, eventually worked and all is good now...
