So i've gotten into the habit of having toast with HONEY for breakfast,
where i previoulsy was a toast with BUTTER kind of guy.

The quesiton occoured to me as to which is a better option.
I'm thinking honey is full of sugar, and butter is full of salt and fat.
I'd be eating about 6 slices every morning.

I dont have any health/weight concerns

So which makes a better breakfast and is one a better option than the other?

I would say butter because wouldn't all the sugar be absolutely terrible for your health? Also in fairness the 6 slices of bread aren't helping either. I would go for butter. Mmmm.

Yeah i guess its a lot of sugar, but we all need sugar!

I dont really know much about food, so i guess i'm looking for pros and cons of either
eg, that honey has lots of sugar and butter doesnt
that butter has lots of salt and honey doesnt
The butter is better for your teeth?
The honey is better for your heart?
    What about cholestorol etc

and which is a better BREAKFAST food.
is 40 slices of honey'd toast a week too much!

How about two slices of toast with butter and honey and some eggs in lieu of the other four slices? :)

    Why do we "need" sugar?

This thread is not about why anyone 'needs' sugar, or anything else for that matter.
If you are looking to goad or want to start a new thread about that topic, go ahead but please try to keep it out of this.

    Thanks.

6 slices of toast every day? Have as much honey or butter as you like in that case as it doesnt matter.

    why, is bread "bad"?

well as far as butter vs honey is concerned seems nobody knows!
i got to thinking that honey is better becasue it's a more natural food.

For that matter, arsenic is natural, but I wouldn't be having it in my porridge.

If you had to choose between butter and honey, I wouldn't limit butter in any way, and I would limit honey intake. Excess fructose in honey is processed in the liver as alcohol is and once the liver glycogen is full it's released in the blood stream as triglycerides.

If you're not lactose intolerant, there's no known adverse effects to excess butter consumption, other than putting on weight (which is true for all excess calories).

ahhh facts at last, thanks rocky. i've been having honey on my toast for almost a year now, only occoured to me last week that it could be better/worse than butter! maybe i'll go 50/50 butter and honey!
