Driving Licence's!

    Hello All.....
I just received my new ten year driving licence today in the post and in the "Restriction Section" 101 is printed in the bus and truck sections so I have found out that the 101 code is " Renewal Subject To Submission Of Valid Medical Report" so I rang the motor tax office and the girl I spoke to said that the 101 is printed on the licence so it show that I have passed my medical! Is this correct?
When I sent in the application form I also sent in a D501 Medical Form and a D502 Eye Sight form both signed by my doctor.
Just wondering if this is normal practice to have the 101 printed.
    Thanks!
    YEAH!

    Say's here that 101 means:
Renewal subject to submission of valid medical report
It means that when you are renewing your licence you need to provide a medical report. All is fine with your licence

I've changed my licence many times, after passing tests, and I've never got the code sheet. Seems silly that they issues licences with codes and don't but the code sheet into the licence.

A friend got it in his and he doesn't have any codes!

Hi, thanks for all the replies, many years ago I was renewing my driving licence and I sent in an application form without a medical (because I didnt know I had to), so my new licence came back without the buses and lorry catagories and I rang the taxation office and they said I needed to send in a medical report which I did and a week later I got my ammended licence back with all catagories.
Now it seems a bit silly to print 101 on this new licence because if the taxation office wasn't happy or didnt receive my medical form well then they would have left the bus and lorry catagories blank.
    YEAH!

There are loads of codes on licences. Some for police others for you.

The code 101 is to remind you, and the person behind the counter, to make sure a medical is supplied. If it wasn't on the licence someone could try and argue they don't need a medical.

The people issuing the licences aren't expected to know the rules off by heart, but you'd hope they do. Though when I was getting my artic licence I also ticked EB on the form, the person behind the counter said I didn't have it before or on my EC pass cert. I said if I can drive a 44t artic I must be able to drive a car and trailer, they had to ask the person at the next counter what E was!
