2003 Yaris?

Hello, I was looking at a three door 2003 Yaris the other day with an NCT 'til Oct 2011, a three month warranty and a mileage of 78000 miles as my first car (very masculine, I know). Asking price €3500 but I'd say I can bring him down to about €2800 or €2900. Anyway, what do ye think of the price? Too high? Any problems with Yarises I should look for? Thanks in advance.

The yaris is easily the best used small car, only things to look out for is a rattling timing chain from not getting oil, noisy water pump and broken radio.

Worth noting that the mid 2003 facelift model (identified by one piece bumpers and all red rear light clusters) got standard cd player and abs as well as a darker interior which is easier to keep clean. Aim for one of these.

Yea i have a 2003 yaris and the only problem I have had was the timing chain. I got mine last year and there was 67k miles on it for 3100 sterling. In 2003 some of the yaris were actually made in france by peugeot and I think they were the ones known to have the problem with the timing chain. I got my timing chain changed and a service for 240 sterling so that wasnt to bad and other than that I have had no bother at all (Touch Wood). Great little car imo.
