    Hi Guys,
Just looking for a general concenus.I have a 2005 toyota corolla verso with just 75000km on the clock. The car is in great nick and is a 1.6 petrol, spotless inside and never got the smallest of dents.I'm thinking about buying a 2007 citroen c4 picasso vtr+ and am wondering should i go for a trade or sell the toyota myself. How much will i have to put with the toyota to get the c4?Any ideas or advice?

Why do you want to upgrade 'by two years'?

Is it just to have an 07 rather than an 05? Cos that Corolla sounds mint

I know it is mint.I need something a bit bigger and want a diesel cause my wife minds kids and they are growing, she also does alot of small runs so the diesel will suit better. The citroens are going for anything between 13000 and 15000 on carzone.I think my corolla is worth 10000 to 11000!

What you think the corolla is worth is meaningless .. it is what someone is willing to pay for.

Most cars at the moment are overpriced on the web and do not fetch that actual price.

Second hand run of the mill petrol cars are not too attractive to buyers at the moment.

I would put a value of at most €8k on you corolla .. should it be 'mint' .. but my idea of mint and yours may differ.

To put it in to perspective, I have just sold my 07 GTI this morning. The car is in excellent condition, has plenty of extras, fairly low mileage ... the best price I could get second hand is well below what they are advertised for on CarZone or Autotrader.ie .... people are dreaming on that site in general.

I eventually sold it for just shy of €14k. This car cost me €42k new ...

From what I can see online, dealers are advertising cars similar to yours for less than 11k (which will come with a warrantly) and generally won't sell for the asking price.

If you are offering your car as a trade-in against a secondhand C4 expect to be insulted at the price the dealer offers you .. you would be best placed to sell privately and go bye the C4 with cash. But it could take a few months to actually sell the Verso privately.

It has taken me just short of 8 weeks to sell my car.

It is not a seller's market at the moment.

Apparently, that's actually the worst possible thing for a diesel. You need to be doing long runs, and in town, you won't notice any real savings on fuel. I switched to diesel a few months back, lots of town driving, got sick of it, swapped back to petrol, and the petrol is actually better on fuel around town!

A 2005 Corolla worth €10,000 to €11,000 either privately or as a trade in is not accurate.
