    Hi,

Spotted this online seems a good deal for an 08 car with VRT paid. However, in 2008 should this not be the new model shape?

Maybe different in UK? Or this was stored?

I actually saw a 11-D Nissan Primera the other day - looked like it was brand new too. Thought they stopped being made in 2007?

    Off topic slightly...

But if you take in a 2008 car from the UK - do you end up paying car tax based on Co2?

Well from the 1st of July 2008....

    Is this the case?

Even if it's between 1st January and 1st July you still can have based on CO2.

Could still get you an 06 or 07 spec 1.6 Petrol at a very reasonable price. Big car for circa 20k ;)

It's an Octavia Tour - the MK1 was sold alongside the MK2 for a couple of years until 2009 (I think). Again, big ish car for not much money and a fairly frugal (if noisy) diesel engine. They were retailing for about €19k towards the end of 08.

They continued to make the Facelift MK2 Octavia until 09 I think.
Im sure my uncles has a 09 one. They sold them at a good price too. I think it was around €16000 new. They didnt have any frills like A/C AFAIK.

That Octavia looks very jaded for a car with only 76k miles. Eyes wide open if looking at that car, my first thought would be ex hackney/mini cab.

+1. I'd get the mileage verified before I'd consider buying it.

Could you not get the old octavia shape up to a year or two ago. Seen a couple of 08/09 around.

Any thoughts on it being a private sale but the ad states "Trade-ins taken"?

Do a quick google on the phone number, far from private. Listed as a used car dealer on one site.

That phone number relates to topcars wicklow, Celbridge auto centre & Horans pub wicklow. The private sale is therefore very dodgy and suggests he doesnt want to give any warranty with this one.

That model continued to be sold in 08 and after but I wouldnt touch this one.

I wouldn't read too much into the "private sale" on this advert. It's obviously a dealer. My guess is he is taking advantage of the carzone offer to private sellers of 40 euro 'till sold, vs the trade pricing of 40 euro per car per month (actually 28 days), or the 450(?) euro plus vat flat rate (robbing bas*ards !).

I'd ring him and ask if it's a private sale or not. If he didn't admit to being a dealer quickly I'd walk, but otherwise I don't see a problem.

I wouldn't consider the car mad value. Miles are a well above average, it's the old stock model that was cheap when new anyway. Also Scottish plate, so I'd be checking for rust (more salt in Scotland/north of England), but probably not an issue on a 08 car.
