    Hey people,

How many hours are you allowed work part time and claim dole?
    Or how does this work.

I am going for a part time job and if I'm successful I'm wondering is there a certain amount of hours you cannot work over? max 20hrs, or max 25 or something like that?

And also is there a form i have to fill in at Social Welfare office to say I have part time job..

    Cheers in advance.

The working week is taken as 6 days - monday to saturday. You can work up to 3 of these days and still claim for the days you do not work. If you work 4 days, you cannot claim any benefit.

For example if you work monday, wednesday and friday, you can claim for tues, thurs and sat. But if you work Mon, tues , wed, and fri then you can't claim at all. Any amount of work on any day is considered a full day. eg. Half an hour in 1 day is considered a FULL day.

Its based on the number of days that you work rather than the hours.

Sundays aren't counted - so you can work sundays and it won't affect your claim.

    Hope it makes sense.

As reilig say you can work up to 3 days and still continue to receive payment for the days you are unemployed as long as you still satisfy the conditions and say you are still looking for full-time employment or employment for the days you are not employed. if you worked a sunday this is not taken into account as long as you dont earn over the Rate of JB/JA that you receive. So you could actually work 4 days considering that, the JA week runs from a wednesday to tuesday (excluding Sundays)

JB is not means tested so it does not go on your earnings. AFAIK in relation to JSA any earnings from Sunday are not means tested. If you work more than 3 days excluding Sunday you get nothing.
