    hi
i have installed launcherpro home screen app on my samsung galaxy s (not rooted phone)
it runs as a active application.
i usually close applications using the galaxy task manager and i endall applications.
is there a way to exclude launcher pro (other than individually ending)?
does this consume ram/memory/battery as this is constantly ON as an app?

Stop using task manager, android performs better if You let it handle things itself and the very things You kill most likely start straight back up costing you cycles not gaining them. You do not need to end applications, android will manage them itself and gain ram when it need it.

Its better to look at why You need it, what version of android does your phone run? Is it laggy? What apps seem to lag or hang?

Ever consider a cusom rom? these run much better than the Samsung ones and give less trouble. Plus they're updated every few weeks when those on Samsung firmwares are most likes a few versions behind. Look into Darkys, there's a thread here on it with instructions

    thanks for the feedback.
i was using the default task manager from samsung, i guess we can use that as it belongs to android.
am i wrong in my assumption?

about rooting, do we have to root the phone before installing darkys rom?
    i am on froyo 2.2

No, you don't have you. have a look at this thread and it'll guide you through nice and easily. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056192851

9.3 is out now so just substitute that, the process is still the same.

Thats your problem, 2.2.1 would even bring huge improvements over stock 2.2. Samsung make great phones, but the software they provide with them let them down.

Flash to Darkys 9.3 and you'll see massive improvements. There's also very little chance you'll brick the phone. See you never touch the bootloader, so once you've access to that you can always flash back to any other firmware at anytime. All samsung firmwares are available at www.samfirmware.com. When flashing to Darkys first time, it will do a wipe, you will loose everything, your settings, apps txts etc so back everything up. Once your on Darkys you can then update to a new version in 10minutes and keep all

Back everything up with "MyBackup"app before ya start. It'll save everything from texts, contacts, apps, pics, vid etc etc and it can be saved on the SD card. then you use the same app to restore after darkys is done. you'll loose nothing then. :)

Launcherpro has a preference setting - preferences-> general settings-> keep in memory -which should normally ensure it stays in memory even if clear RAM.
