Much the same as 2010 I'd imagine, €3 for hay and €4 for chopped silage. Personally speaking I never bale silage without chopping it unless I'm specifically asked to.

Got a quote for diesel today 82 cents a liter and going up. prices will have to go up some bit.

Diesel will cost your average contractor maybe 5 or 6 cent a bale extra this year alright it it stays at current prices, but I'd sooner try to maintain a steady price and hold on to my customers.

You would be amazed at the number of farmers who have bought second hand baler and wrapper this winter, in preparation for next season, in our area. Usually two or three lads getting together to share equipment and cost. That's on top of all the lads off the buildings who have set up in the last couple of years. You have to be keen, on time, and doing a good solid bale now to hold your business.

Wait till they all want to bale the same day!!!!! Then the sparks will fly!! Or a big break? Who foots the bill???? All those co-operations are great in theory but rarely work out
