Well whatever you want to drop. In my school (and most if not all schools) we do Eng, Irish, Maths, and then 4 subjects of our choice for the leaving cert

In all but the largest schools the selection to pick your four 'other' subjects from is limited. If you and 3 others want to do Chemistry and everyone else wants Biology, you're unlikely to have a class in Chemistry.

Ya, same here with my school. There will probably be enough demand for Chemistry (which I want to do) although I really want to do my favourite subject, Physics, but I doubt we'll have the numbers...:(

By law you have to do 5 subjects. Almost everyone does English, Irish, Maths and a foreign language. Usually you do at least 7 subjects all together, you can do 6, but 7 means that you can fall back on one, just incase.

There is no minimum number of subjects you have to take in the Leaving.

A generally accepted measure of having 'passed the Leaving' is at least grade D in five subjects at any level, but there is no reason you couldn't have done them in two sittings. College entrance requirements are different.

well your going to need at least 6 subject if you want to have a good chance of getting a decent result in the leaving seeing as 6*100=600pts max

5 subjects and you can only get 500 points max

most people do 7 because if they do crap in one exam they have 6 still to fall back on...

simple answer and probably the best - you only have to do 6-7 subjects for the leaving

but don't expect their to be less of a work load which seems to be what your after - content is way harder and more intense so your work load will increase regardless
