At this rate it could be someone from the sweet shop

Hopefully Conroy does well as U20. He has is well qualified as a coach, but not as a manager. Not long out of the game at County ,and still playing coub

Terry Hyland has far more experience in comparison but didn't seem to be approached. Maybe the Don didn't agree.

I said it here. Terry was only putting the cat amongst the pigeons, as was Finbarr. Neither had a chance of getting the roles.

Conroy has retired from club football.

The Don has summoned Gearóid back. Hearing someone from Cornafean called in aswell not too sure who its is, As well as Eoin Clarke from Ballyhaise.

I heard its the midfielder McSeain. Peter Doyle would be worth a look too. I wonder would Tristan Hoffman go back in. Dugdale from Butlersbridge would be worth a look. A few from Kingscourt will probaly be called later in year.

They do and need more pace in a few areas. Would Brandon Boylan go back in? Done well in the half back line this year for Crosserlough.

Some mess with the minor finals today. Mullahoran, Southern Gaels, Kingscourt & Templeport all pushed out for another week having been initially postponed two weeks ago.

These delays are making a long season on players and management even longer.

I was in Breffni last week and people knew then that the weather was to be poor today so why plan three games for the day after three camogie finals?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭rrs

Could they not have played extra time last for Cootehill v Lavey? Senior final could have been put back half hour.

How are Kingscourt in Division 3 when won Division 1 championhip last year? Maybe smaller numbers this year but seems a big drop.

They could have even started it a half hour earlier and played the extra time. It’s on this evening in Templeport.

Kingscourt were relegated from Division 2 League in the Spring. A lot of their best players are over age now and one of their best Josh Harpur is playing League of Ireland.

The most annoyed club should be Mullahoran. Their final was rescheduled because of two Gowna lads, then postponed two weeks ago and now has been postponed again.

Absolute joke. This minor competition started in mid July. Between 3 group games, and semi and now the final, it has taken them 13 weeks to try organise this

Our pitch is generally good, but they have to watch the amount of games on it. Placing Masters games and impacting SFC games is madness too. What are this lot at?

The pitch is good but can't play on it when raining is falling cause it tears it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 288 ✭✭tazman06

I get that, but we got into this position so late in the year by too many pointless games on it a day prior to finals and such. These finals should be long run off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭rrs

Fermanagh final was a draw Saturday night. Kingscourt will have to see who they play. The 3 Jones brothers played a big part in Leitrim Gaels beating Ballinamore yesterday.

Any truth behind RON being left out of the setup this year? Hear 5 plus from last year are not in. Surprised Ryan left out but I'd say Kildallans position unfortunately could of helped the dons decision.

Meath have been running a regional championship the past couple of years for Junior and Intermediate players. It's a way for players to impress County management. The Don should probaly have done something similar then casting players aside without a trial.

The minor league actually started back in April so those lads would have had challenges in February/March and are now playing football about 8 months.

What’s funny is, even with all this time, there were plenty of weeks where players had to play minor on a Tuesday & U16 on a Thursday. Then we wonder why juveniles get injuries.

There are far too many club games on the pitch. No need for the half of them.

GAA weighs up ending era of ‘outside coaches’ by confining them to their own clubs and counties

A proposal to limit the appointment of managers and coaches to the their own clubs and counties is “under consideration” by the GAA’s National Games Development Committee.

The committee has had discussions on the matter with the GAA’s Amateur Status Review Committee (ASRC) which is examining all aspects of time and investment into Gaelic games, especially at inter-county level.

Be interesting to see how that would go. Vinny Corey over Gowna while his brother is over Kilcoo.

killdallen may impacted the dons decision but he did play a lot over the past few years for Cavan so it would be hard to belief that

Can't be policed. How do you prove who is the "manager" if there are 4 lads on the line. You'd have a local lad as the face and the real manager in the background somewhere.

Munchies out in Ulster this weekend versus Ardglass from Down.

Probably not Cavan's strongest representatives in recent years but you would have to fancy them versus the Down's champions given Down's record in the competition.

Cucus have Irvinestown next weekend; Irvinestown finished 3rd in Division 1 in Fermanagh this year and Cucus 4th in Division 1. Irvinestown be strong enough you would imagine but you'd fancy Cucus to have enough.

With Kingscourt more than likely favorites against whoever wins the Fermanagh Championship could we be looking at all 3 teams with first round wins? Not sure if that's happened before.

Can't see any of the sides winning Ulster but Cucus are proably our best bet. I hear Clonoe from Tyrone are very strong at that grade though and made a Senior semi final only a couple of years ago and got relegated via the league.

Kingscourt will have had a good break, but maybe too long. It will be 4 weeks from when they played the Co final to when they play in Ulster. The Fermanagh final was a draw last weekend and replay this weekend. The winners will obviously have the celebrations for a few days but enough time to focus on Ulster.

Finbarr Reilly the new crosserlough manager. Any other club appointments?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭Crash Bang Wall

No need for so many club championship games in Breffni. The Gaels for example had 3 there, 1 per club should be plenty….would alleviate some of the wear and tear. JMAC podcast with all the exclusives

I think that's a good move for everyone, Finbar, Crosserlough and Cavan GAA. Hopefully he gets the big job in a few years time.

In regards Cavan team's chances in Ulster I wouldn't be confident. To be honest, it's the least confident I have been post COVID. 2023 was the peak with Gowna, Ballyhaise and Arva all flying.

The Cucus are probably the best hope we have . If the munchies win a game it will be massive and let's be honest I think the jury is still out on Kingscourt. It's going to be a step up for them and I'm not sure about their squad and even a few lads on the starting 15. If Morris and Dillion get stopped a team will have a lot of work done on Kingscourt . I hope they prove me wrong though .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭rrs

It would be most of the Kingscourt teams first go at Ulster. Faulkner, Tully, and Joe Dillon were there in 2015. If it's Derrygonnelly they play, they would have experience of Ulster and made the final in 2021. Erne Gaels have a few good players like Ultan Kelm, Ryan Lyons, Tommy McCaffrey. I think it will be a 50/50 against the Fermanagh team.

Any other club appointments yet or in the works?

Mickey Graham would be a good choice for some of the teams. Ramor or Gowna if they have a chance of management. Not sure if he is is sticking with Galway.

True it's not our strongest representatives especially at junior and senior. But it's definitely our kindest draw i think in a long long time?

Probably drew the weakest team at Senior and junior.

Irvinestown strong for Fermanagh intermediate champions but Cucus should have enough
