48?? Unreal, for an event this size!!!

    48 x €20 = €960 Entrys
Payout = €6800 for the singles??

Lads I haven't got a clue about the INDO so forgive me if this is a stupid question. Do you have to be a paid member of the organisation to enter their tournaments?

This is on the only explanation I can think of for such a poor turnout. Sure the likes of the George Byrne tournament could easily get 128 players with far less prize money.

Can anyone tell me why there was such a terrible turnout for a tournament with huge prize money?

nope not a paid member just 20 quid on the day. Theres alot of people with warranted gripes with the INDO and alot more with unwarranted ones.

For all there faults they've had 2 huge comps this year with Trabolgan and first the VFI and the winners of both shared 10k if I'm not mistaken.

So why doesn't the average punter dart player turn up to these tournaments like they do for the likes of the George Byrne?

honestly I just don't know. Ive only being at 5 or so of them in the last 2 years and have to say I can't find any complaints. But I hear stories of players being overlooked for Ireland, bringing friends to the masters, event clashing etc....

I think its a combination of old wounds, and bad pr.

Alot seems to have changed this year, All new Blade 4 boards on every stand (which all seem to be tightened and fixed up, although I heard there was issues with the final in Ennis)

Certainly the VFI one in Mullingar was a brilliantly run tournamet and I didn't see many leave disappointed or complaining, and I heard nothing but good things from Trabolgan, although there was a bit of slobbering with the team final where it had to be moved from the venue to the pub or something due to time issues.

i guess if the INDO continue to step up the players will come back. Numbers are way up on last year which averaged around 28 per event I think.

Just wondering, when only 48 players turn up and theres a shortfall of nearly €6,000, where does this €6k come from? Surely if tournaments continue this small, prizepools like that cant continue?

Kudos to the organisers for paying out the full monies on such a disappointing entry. Very well done indeed.

The tournament was run by the INDO, it wasn't their money that was given away.

You had to be resident in Trabolgan to play, so they got money from entry fees, accomodation, bar and restaurant takings to offset against the prize fund.

You'll know next year how well it went - if it's not run again it went bad.
