What are your salary expectations?

    Hi all

Just a quick question... I sent my CV off yesterday for a job that is fixed, short-term covering maternity leave. I've been asked what my salary expectation is. I don't mind earning less than I was on in my previous job, but the job would require me commuting a fair distance by train on a daily basis which would be expensive.

Aaaaarggh. Not sure what to put down. I dont want to sell myself short, but at the same time, it would be great to be working again - even for just the fixed short period so I'm tempted to put down a much reduced salary. Then again, I have a mortgage to pay so I need to be realistic.

    What would you do?

    Heah there OP,

Do some research online and check out what are the averge salary's in the area, When they ask you about Salary expectations say something along the lines of

From market research that I have done in this area, normally the salary is from X to Y, From my experience, training etc I would anticipate being on the higher end of this scale, than turn the question back on them asking what they are offering. Saying that in the current climate, I would go for it no matter what,

    Best of luck:o
