    Hi,
I am buying my first jeep in the next day or two. I'm going for a Touareg. I've driven the new model 07 3.0l v6 auto 15,000, ive also found new model 07 2.5 tdi auto at a good price 13,000. But this morning i drove a 2.5l 06 older model manual and he will sell at 9500. Value for money seems to be this jeep. it has 80k miles. fsh etc. my preference was really an automatic. wasnt too pushed about engine size. id prefer more efficient. Any advise me on the difference on efficiency b/w the 3l v6 nand 2.5l and b/w and auto and manual. And also any trouble given by either model?

    Thank you

    Sit down before reading on.

Next ring a VW dealer and ask for the cost of an oil/filter change. It uses an awful lot of supremely expensive oil.

I hope you were sitting down.

    p.s. STG£313 (in 2009).

I'd say buy this older model for 9500. Price is great, but maybe something is wrong with this car. Check it carefuly at mechanics before buying. The cheapest i found is this Toureag 2,5 TDI for 10950. So offer you found is very good.

after driving a Touareg for years, the oil to buy at steelers is just under 90Euro and that is a longlife service oil so it doesn't work out too expensive.
Ask if it had any recalls?
The drive can sometimes be problematic and also the 'handbrake' cable for releasing.
I mainly had trouble free motoring except for one mechanical breakdown. Should be fairly well spec'd, ie cruise control and leather if you can, oh and parking sensors are a pleasure....
I had the 2.5Tdi engine and was very happy with it, economical enough for a 4x4...

OP Touraegs are a ball of dung. Both the 2.5 and 3.0 give a lot of trouble. They have a habit of bursting the top of the oil cartridge and spilling out all the engine oil. The gearbox gives trouble aswell. Stay way..

Know nothing about them OP but don't rush into anything. Do as much research as you can and take your time. Better taking two weeks to find the right one than picking up a lemon today.;)
