Tights Help??

Hi, I bought this dress http://www.oasis-stores.com/Cotton-Sateen-Frill-Belted-Dress/Dresses/oasis/fcp-product/3470062015 which I love. I had black tights on me when I fitted it on and I thought they were a bit dull with it. I will be wearing it for work but I work in a place where it's casual wear so will just be wearing ballet pumps with it. I was thinking of skin coloured tights (decent, proper coloured ones to match my skin tone!!) as I'd be freezing without.

Is it totally not fashionable to wear skin colour tights or is it OK, once they are the right colour and not too heavy??

In a work situation it's much better to wear skin colour rights than go without, especially for interview.

Just on the black tights: Have you tried the dress with very 'light' black tights? I had a problem of thick dark tights dragging down or making a black knee length dress look very dull, but when I tried it with fine black tights there was a huge difference and it worked much better.

The ones I had on weren't that heavy, although I could get lighter I suppose. The dress is a very, very dark grey. If it was any lighter I think it would be lovely with black. Maybe I'll get very light black and skin colour and try both.

What about coloured tights? - some of the jewel colours would be lovely with that dress.

Maybe a generational thing, but to me it's certainly acceptable to wear skin coloured tights in a work situation. Even if the dress code is casual, IMHO you can much more safely slightly over dress than slightly under dress.

Personally I think it would be lovely with subtle skin coloured tights. It's a lovely dress and the finish is hard to see on the website, but as it seems to have a slightest sheen so it doesn't need anything to take attention away.

On the other hand if you do want to go the black opaque route maybe try the Silky soft M&S ones (Dunnes do a version too). I find they often work better with pure black.

Finally, Maybe a flat colour like grey would work in opaque if you want to make it less formal. Almost every hight street shop sell them. (Penny's do a 50d grey pair that are only a few euro). Or even a bold red.

Four out of these five would work but I think the purples and the redcurrent would be lovely with the grey. http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Denier-Opaque/dp/B002F7AZ24?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_82&nodeId=341278031&sr=1-82&qid=1299091034

I don't know about colored tights. I'd stick with either lace, flesh tone, or a light black that you can kind of see through.

Skin colour is fine once they're not too dark or too shiny. In fact I'd say skin colour would be best :)

    Lovely dress btw

As the dress has an almost 1940's look to it, maybe you could try the tights/stockings that have the "seam" up the back.

Skin colored ones should be perfectly acceptable but stay away from Dunes with their orange tones. Sisi is great reasonably priced brand. Omsa is ok too.

Or you can try something like that:

Navy tights might work, or any off black kinda colour. I would try a dark subtle colour first and see what you think

I almost bought that dress on Monday actually, but decided against it at the last minute!
