    hi,

    im looking at 2 cars this weekend - an A3 and a Rav4. both have over 100,000 miles and are diesel.

    apart from service history is there any particular thing i should be asking about/need to be wary of? eg when should the timing belt have been done etc

    ones in mayo the other in donegal so not sure how i can get them checked over by a mechanic (im travelling from dublin in one day)- any advice greatly appreciated!

    Should be checked and preferably replaced.

    Rev hard through the range and then go in a high gear at low speed and accelerate hard.

    Any "judder" and you have a (potentially expensive) problem.

    Just like checking a clutch really.

    A little ot but I wouldnt travel that far to look at a car with the spec your looking at. all your doing is wasting time and fuel, now if it was rare...
