Lads, am looking at getting into the deer stalking next season and was talking to John Lambert in Camolin where he has Tikka hunters and Tikka T3 Lites becoming available shortly.
The wooden stock on the hunter put me off (Scratches etc) but the T3 Lite looks good.
Have any of ye owned one or used one and if so what did \ do ye think of them as a stalking rife ?
Is the T3 Lite too light to use for the occasional long range target shooting as usually the heavier rifles are more suited to the targets ?
Any info or opinions ye have is much appreciated...:)

    AFAIK
The Lit e barrels are good for 3-5 shots without heating.
However if you are using a mod 3-5 shots will heat teh mod enough to cause mirage after the same.

    Deffo for stalking go synthetic.
and if you get a scratched wooden stock, Edi Graef does a lovely Tikka Carbon Fibre stock

Have a lite stainless in .243 - cannot fault it. Out of the box accuracy is phenomenal and it does exactly what it says on the tin about being light! I've found there to be a shimmer when you're looking through the scope after 4 or 5 shots in quick succession, and the barrel does get very hot, so long range repetitive target shooting wouldn't really suit. Great gun though.

You wont go wrong with the Tikka and you certainly wont go wrong with John. If it were me Id get a lite in 270 win. I recommend this as I once owned one and bought it off John. Once shot a rabbit at 400 yards with it and it could hold its own at long distance with more expensive rifles. Nothing comes near a Tikka in that price range.

I have a T3 custom, was prevoiusly a standard lite in .270, Shot extremely well as standard and was more than capable of shooting at range.. You wont get better value for money than a tikka.. The only fault I had was I found the stock too small so I bought one of the stocks Tack mentioned and its brilliant! I know a guy with a custom sako thats mad to swap with me he likes my tikka that much :D
