'99 Opel Vectra , a few days ago it started to shudder while in idle ( at traffic lights ) , like a diesel ....van , the shudder is really that bad . I can't say for definite if it is there when the car is cold for no other reason than I haven't thought of it , first thing in the morning I am thinking will they ever get out here so I can get them to school , not how is my car going . But it is definitely there when the engine is warm/hot . The car has only gone through the NCT a month ago so it has been to see the mechanic a few times in the last few months and she was going fine , serviced about 6 months ago .

Any ideas while I am waiting to go to the mechanic ?

Took myself down to the mechanic yesterday , and while there I had the car ticking over waiting for him to come over and have a look and I noticed the temp going over 100 . Mechanic saw this and checked her for water and the level was gone way down . He topped it up and left her ticking over for a while , I was having a look around her and noticed clear water coming out of the exhaust . First thought was obviously ........ well thats a good sign in these environmentally friendly times ..............clear water ? surely it must be ? and if the engine is using something that gives a bi-product that is clear water surely it is going to be a lot cheaper to run in these times of uncertainty in the middle east . I felt like the luckiest man alive .

Apparently it's not so ... head gasket gone oil seals and other tech stuff might be gone too , 120k miles up on her so timing belt needs to be done as well as it was done at 91k .... all in all about 8/9 hundred euro . Thing is she just passed her NCT and is worthless if I don't get the work done .... what to do , what to do .
