The desire s (desire 2) is not the successor to the desire HD but the update of the desire. The new top of the range will be the Incredible S from what I'm reading. Was announced at the MWC recently.

Incredible is a 4G phone so we won't be seeing it here.

At the moment there doesn't appear to be a real successor to the Desire from HTC.

The Desire S looks ok but is not a 'next' version, more of a 1.5.

Are you sure it's not appearing here?
I could've sworn I read somewhere that it was.

Looks like it will be in the CarphoneWarehouse in the UK so I presume we will see it here too

The Desire HD is only out a 5/6 months - I don't se it being properly replaced until October/November this year; same type of time frame as the Desire HD last year.

Dunno to get the sensation or the evo 3d :-(

Ya, the Sensation is apparantly going to be HTC's first (I think) dual core processor over here. Who knows when it will be available in Ireland though. Meant to be a 4.3 incher as well, so same screen size as the DHD.

The Incredible S that is available in the UK is the current successor to the DHD though as far as I know.

Not quite, the Incredible S only has a 4" screen, surely the DHD replacement will also have a 4.3" screen!

Well of the Incredible S and Desire S that were announced for the European market, the Incredible S would map to the DHD better. Not an exact science obviously.

Looks like we might find something more suitable at this event next Tuesday anyhow.

I'd much rather the Pyramid/Sensation to that Evo 3D thing. Admittedly I'm a total 3D hater, but the thing is butt ugly, the camera is otherwise inferior (in terms of MP at any rate), and it'll probably cost an arm and a leg. Are people genuinely excited about '3D photographs'?

Beauty in the eye of the beholder I guess. It looks chunky (even if it isn't), and I don't like the back of it (big red box around a sticky out camera). I didn't like the back of the Desire HD either, but it was better than this one. And while I'm at it, I may as well say I really don't like the back of the Incredible S :p

    The Sensation looks class though.

mp has no influence on image quality, only image size and its a proven fact high mp with such cropped sensors have series effects on image quality in camera phones, anything over 4 on a phone is madness and results in lower quality almost inevitably

I know that. I did say 'in terms of MP'. Do we know if the sensor, lens etc. are the same in both?

Maybe I'm wrong, but my gut feeling is that most of the effort with this phone has been put into the 3D gimmick. Which I'm not even indifferent to, 3D films drive me nuts. I'd rather avoid anything similar on something I've to use every day.

The event on Tuesday should be interesting, think its more or less known what they will be announcing. I'm still holding out that the rumours of a 10 inch tablet could be true.

I think the Desire HD will be the last release for at least a year. There will be smaller models based on the HD, but this is the real deal for a while anyway.
