Art studio spaces in or around Dublin??

Hi, i did fine art for four years and i'm dying to get messy with some oil paints again, along with pretty much anything i can get my hands on, drift wood, poly filler, bathroom tiles, all great! I haven't practised painting properly for over three years now (lack of space being the main reason), but i'm getting a huge urge to get back into it with a few creative ideas. Also my style doesn't really suit sitting quietly outdoors with a palette somewhere.

Ive been on google searching for art spaces, i'm very surprised not to find anything. There must be lots of abandoned buildings that could be used for art??

Well anyway, i'm looking for a space i could use to paint and generally get creative in, I live in South Dublin. I don't mind sharing a space with other people, i think that would probably be better in fact, because you can bounce ideas off each other and you're always surrounded by images or colour etc.

    Any help would be brilliant.

    Mike.

Hiya - that sounds like a great plan and something I'd love to try myself, but not in that place at the moment unfortunately!

Here is a list from the Visual Artists Ireland website that might be able to help you!

Hey, thanks for the think. But i think i would need to get the ball rolling with some other work first before i could be considered for something like that. And it's not easy to submit the kind of portfolio those places are looking for when i don't have any space to do any art at the moment.

Ah ok no worries - didn't think of that!

    Edit:
A few links with contact numbers/details in them from boards that you may wish to check out- may be out of date though..

try d-light studios. they rent space and I think you can do so on a permanent basis so u could leave ur stuff there. i know they rent space to designers as well as being a photography studio. Link
