the worst thing about scrapers

    cow calfed premature last night-found a dead heifer calve at the base of the scraper this morning. worst thing the mother had an ebi of 156 and plus on fat and protein %. still kicking myself

    i turn them off in the dry cow shed at bedtime , lesson learned . then turn them back on first thing in the morning

    Sorry to hear that, scraper are lethal for that. We have pres on straw for 3 weeks to avoid that. Have you the Cow Down feature? Its pointless with mine as the slightest touch stops them

    we move the cows off the scrapers 2 weeks before they calve and put them on cubicles that are on slats

    this one just caught us out

    mine on timer switch, last run is at 10 at night till just after seven in morning

    Switch them off at night. We got caught the first year we had them installed. It actually carried the cow as well. Cow survived, calf didn't. Usually do one last run late at night before going to bed while checking the cows. An extra half hour work every night at least.
