    Hello

Has anyone been to the Aviva recently ? I did hear in the Autumn rugby internationals that there was a ban on bringing drink back to your seats to watch the game

I'm just wondering if they have relaxed the rule yet , as I did here a whisper on a forum that it was

Also is there nice drinking areas in the stadium out of the elements , that you can have a drink in before the start of the game

    many thanks

No, not that I have heard of......but they sell carlsberg bottles so all you need to do is stuff the bottles up your sleeves/down your pockets and walk right past security to your seats....problem solved.

No they let you keep the lids so there's no need to worry about spilling them. Btw, they're plastic bottles.

are they the ones with the screw lids rather than a bottle cap as such ?

You can drink in the lower tier seats, not the top tier. Think they are afraid of people getting drunk and falling down stairs

Sounds about right, was in the upper for SA and was doing the carlsberg trick.. Was in lower for NZ and had no problem bringing a pint to my seat. Ditto Leinster game vs Clermont was allowed bring my pint to my seat, hadn't been allowed to do that at the Munster game (in the same lower tier seats both times).

During the Samoa match in the AIs the stewards were telling people to bring their drinks back outside the seating area or give it up if they were seen with beer at their seats.

Hip flask FTW. You dont need to go to the jacks as often, it's much better than a pint on a cold day, those plastic bottles are crap (something like 3.1% alcohol) and you can fill it with whatever booze you want.

The only problem is remembering to fill it and bring it with you before you leave the house.

It's odd really. I was there for the Ulster/Leinster vs Connacht/Munster match, and we couldn't bring drink into the stands. Same held for the Samoa game. So I assumed that we couldn't bring drink in.

Then I was at the Clermont/Munster matches at the same stadium, and we were told that (paraphrasing) "Yeah, you can bring drinks to your seats - it's only the soccer games you can't bring drink in...".

This would make sense mind you - first two matches I was in the upper stands, the Munster/Clermont game I was in the lower.

I steward in the upper level and occasionally premium.

At the moment, alcohol can't be brought to seats in the upper tier. That rule has been relaxed for the lower tiers since the first game or two.

Hip flasks will generally be ignored but don't take the piss e.g. don't bring your own bottle of wine and glasses (which i've seen) or you will be asked to drink them outside on the concourse or have it confiscated. I believe it is a rule of entry on the tickets that you are not permitted to bring alcohol into the stadium.

If you are seen drinking alcohol in your seats, you will be asked to return to the concourse to drink it or hand it over.

    Thanks Mate

How much better is the view from Premium seats over seats in the Lower section tryline block row Q

    Many Thanks

Honestly I don't know as i've never been in the lowest tier during a match. But the premium row generally has the best view as a combination of angle and nearness. i.e. you are quite close to the action and you can see the positioning/moves and tactics.

I was in premium for the Leinster/Clermont game over the tryline at the north end and the view was excellent.

cameras are ok (as long as you didn't turn up with a proper full-scale sports telephoto lens or something) but a video camera would be a no-no.

The main issue is that the rights holders pay a good deal of money for the picture/video rights.

The North end has 12 rows, one tier and no premium!

section 330/331 is premium over the tryline at the north end.
