Anyone ever played here? Going to be down that way in August for a week and it's only a couple of hundred yards from where we are staying

Its a pretty good course in fairness,as soundsham said a buggy would be a good idea(hilly),if the golf is bad theres the best views you'll get anywhere:)
not the toughest or tightest course around but still a challenge and it should be in good shape in august..worth playing definately

Played there last year as the membership was €215. Found it to be a great track particularly off the back sticks. You'll enjoy the round of golf here.

13 and 14 are two cracking holes, 13 a long downhill par 3, drain at the front while 14 was index 1, par 4, which I think has now been turned into a par 5 with a higher index.

Pick up a course planner as there are a number of holes that are blind from the tee, although there are fairway markers to give you a line in some cases. There are also a few water hazards which you might not see immediately, lake in front of 5th and another on left of 12th fairway.

As previous posted have written, take a buggy as it can be a tough walk, particularly if not going to well. ;)

Spectacular scenery, if you get a nice day there are few better places to play golf.

It's decent, if your in the area give it a try. When I was there 2 summers ago they have a special offer call the peninsula pass 3 golf courses for 155 euro. This English lad with and Irish name there looked after me think he was called john o shea or something irish sounding.

Killarney course at the best and its about a 30 min drive from Kenmare.

Let me know what you think of the course.
I am organising the Amateur World Cup of Golf for 2012( www.worldcupofgolf.com ) and it will be played in the South-West so this is one of the courses I am considering. seems excellent value. some feedback regarding the course would be great.

It should be fine for a amateur tournie enjoyable but not too difficult!

played 2 years ago and we still laugh at how poor condition it was in...

would be great to hear it's improved, we'll be back down in that direction soon.

OP, try to get out in Waterville - a bit out the peninsula admittedly, but a superb track

Yes I have to agree the place was in shocking shape about 3/4 years ago (lack of funds I believe), in particular the greens were almost dead.
I've played there a number of times since (Junior cup(2 years ago) and Jimmy Bruen(last year) and as recent as this weekend and can say for certain the course is kept in a much better state and the greens would rival any I've seen elsewhere.
Whereas 3 years ago I would have recomended people to stay away, I'd gladly recommend people to play it now.
OP enjoy your round and let us know how you get on.

I played there 2 weeks ago and it was in very good condition before the weekends rain. The greens are excellent and the fairways had firmed up. Worst part of the course are the bunkers.

It is a great test of golf and you will use every club in your bag.

Thanks. A couple of mates have it on their itinerary for an upcoming trip.
