The story is I was paying AA for last three years as didn't realise it was covered in my policy! I know!! So I rang them last week to cancel the direct debit, I cancelled it on my on line banking. And today an invoice arrives saying I owe the €140 as u can't cancel a direct debit or if u do u owe the the balance til the policy expires! Seriously if I don't pay what happens??????

That sounds like BS to me unless you took out a 12 month contract. Did you inform the aa you were cancelling?

Yeah seems a bit mad to me too! I rang them to say I was cancelling it. I have been paying direct debit for the last 3 years, so they just automatically renew it unless you cancel it! They are now saying that I had the first 3 months to cancel the policy and after that I must pay for the balance!!

Not a lot I would imagine.

Another reason in my book not to avail of the AAs overpriced breakdown service.
