While I hate seeing people driving on the phone, it seems we have a new issue. How stupid do you have to be to surf and drive.

I am in leixlip, today I have seen more than 10 women drivers on the phone with their kids in the car, (phone held up to chin), another few smoking with kids in the car (another issue).

I watched people at traffic lights texting away, and people smoking, driving and on the phone. The triple crown of lunacy.

I never surf the net while driving anymore since that time a dog ran out and I spilled my beer on the keyboard.

Only 73.5 per cent of drivers, however, would insist that they would never go online on a smartphone while driving – suggesting that the actual number of drivers going online could be higher.

FFS. Really rags me to see this kind of sh!t. Using the mobile phone while driving is up by 3.4% since 2009 as well. Good to see the enforcement is working:rolleyes:

Whats needed is an app that reads aloud the live text updates from the BBC.

Quick question here. Aside from the danger of possibly being slow to move away from the lights, what exactly is wrong with firing off a quick text while your vehicle is stopped?

possibly the chance of not realizing the light is green, then getting panicky and rushing and as you accelerate a tad bit harshly the moron pushing a buggy whilst on her phone not paying attention to the road walks in front of you?

    *breathes

Other than that I don't mind. If you need to answer a phone call, it's not hard to pull in. Otherwise let it ring out. If it's important they'll ring back or maybe they might use that new service. What's it called?

    Oh yeah! Voicemail...

Imagine that. A way for someone to leave a message for you and you can get it and then call back if you wish.

I'd treat phone users the same as people driving with 1 light blown, fog light users in no fog. Line them up and shoot them with their own balls of ****e til they learn better.

Or maybe an €80 fine each time. Repeat offenders charged with driving without due care and consideration maybe.

Its dangerous allright. I burned my leg the other morning over it coming down the M50. I was on Boards and eating my breakfast bap when I swerved and spilt my cup of tea..:(

It's scary to think that the person coming towards you is on the web and not giving 100% concentration to their driving. People on phones while driving is a thing that always bothered me

My phone is dashmounted so really there's no difference between me playing with the radio/putting on makeup or browsing the chive while driving.

It only becomes a problem when it's done excessively.

And balancing your phone on your leg while driving does not account for hands free!! You are asking for an accident doing that!

    Surely you don't think that?

Surely you dont find that acceptable?
