Did anyone catch the ex Labour party Dr of Spin musing out loud on Morning Ireland (expect that programe to become Labours sounding board if they are in power), he reminded people of the 1966 SPD (read Labour) and CDU (read Fine Gael) government in Germany. Brandt was Vice-Chancellor (leading the SDP), three years later came an election and he became Chancellor of a SDP/ FDP coalition government. The CDU was out of power until 1982.

If I were Fine Gael I'd be very wary about going to power with Gilmore, the ex-"stickies" successfully staged a reverse takeover of Labour and could be they fancy using the next government as a "host" before attempting to destroy it and form a grand coalition of the left.
