Hollywood's just gone to the dogs. No one's willing to throw a bone to film-makers with original ideas. They need to fetch some decent screenwriters quickly, and put the old ones out of their misery. It's a woof system.

they sure did, i hate the "millions of people just died but the doggy made it so everythings ok" thing in disaster movies, if I'd made Independence Day that dog would have been roasted in that tunnel :pac:

    * just to note I wouldnt wish harm on an animal, its just a tired plot device that needs shaking up

They're better actors than the kind of people they get for those films. Consider what happens to I Am Legend after
    the dog dies
. Clearly, the dog held that film together.

Cos they are mobile, cute/heroic/sympathic, cheap.

Thats the exact point where the movie turned from watchable to tripe, cgi vampires my ass. worst special effects in a major blockbuster in years, the cityscapes look incredible but the vampire/zombie whatever the hell look horrible, unfinished and rushed, why couldnt they just use makeup on actual people? would have looked way better, Blade 2 did it and the reapers are amazing looking.

Shìte film which is only memorable for the dog. Funny how it's the only thing most people comment on :pac:

Putting a dog in jeopardy is what talentless hack filmmakers do when want to create tension. The minute the audience sees a dog in a film there's an automatic expectation that the dog will die some point. So they spend the entire movie worrying about the dog. It's just one of those things.

cos people like the dogs more than the actors !

that and the fact kittens cant run that fast.

the bonus side of this is that when you see a dog get killed in a movie you know its going to be ****ed up

Because cats just hiss at the camera and run away.
