DB to Valleymount

What DB bus goes out to Valleymount past Blessington? I noticed lots of newly built stops out that way once turned off the N81.

A search of the DB site turns up nothing despite Valleymount being a valid option to pick. 65 is valid for Valleymount (Ballyknockan) but don't think thats the same route is it, the map doesn't show it there?

Just curious is all. Don't look like roads you want to bring a DD down, and not going to run SD from the CC all the way out there surely?

The 65 should be it all right. Not particularly unusual to run double-deckers down narrow roads once you get into the mountains. I once rode the 65 all the way out to Donard, back when they still ran there.

Used to be four buses going to Ballyknockan Monday-Saturday and two on Sunday, in the late 1980s. Now it's down to two Monday-Friday, and none on weekends.

(Why did they not extend the 65A to Saggart? because it might still be running today if they did; nowadays they're talking about extending the Luas Red Line to Saggart, so let's not pretend that demand would not exist both then and now.)

It is the Ballyknockan service - and it is double deck operated.

It was more the overhanging trees in places rather than the roads, they're decent enough down there

so it's just the website being useless again then.

    Thanks :)

Maybe the R758 road is wide enough, but within Ballyknockan is a different story (starting at 3:17 and especially at the end).

    65 on the front
    15A on the side
    45A on the back

Yes, another episode of "ain't technology grand", especially when not maintained. Digital signs not, roll signs were.

Definitely the Ballyknockan 65 alright that video brings back some memories I caught that bus for 6 years almost everyday 7:10am from near Valleymount to Dublin and again at 5:30 or so home! It's was always more or a roller coaster ride than a bus journey!!
I remember having to guess where my stop was in winter by counting the lights of houses we passed and having to stand in the road in the morning waving so the driver would see you  no hiviz jackets then!!
Even the drivers thought it was mad going out there and it was usually limited to no more than 10 regulars that didn't stop noobies getting lost I remember a bus getting stuck for most of a day near the quarry in Ballyknockan his troubles compounded by the fact his radio didn't work and no mobile phones another fault that used to plague the buses was an inability to select reverse once in the car park/terminus beyond Ballyknockan.
The things I saw on that bus though at one stage for a brief period the stoning of buses in Jobstown got so bad the drivers would switch the internal lights off at the Square and back on again near the Embankment so we wouldn't be seen!! Another driver used to hit the limiter repeatedly between Valleymount and Ballyknocken the closest I ever got to joyriding :D!
