Never seen so many people out!

First big weekend spin of the year for me today, up to Sally Gap via Cruagh road and home via Athdown, Bohernabreena.

I've never seen so many roadies out, not eve in high summer - nor have I seen so many people nodding and waving.

Was today the start of the '11 cycling season for all us sub-hardcore weekend warriors on account of the day that was in it? Was all that goodwill our collective delight at being able to get out on the bike again?

Here's to a great year's cycling ahead for all :D

I took the racing bike for a test run in the Phoenix Park in anticipation of tomorrows sufferfest. The Park was awash with roadies in club gear and pro team kits, all nodding and waving. Great start to the season.

I was out there too (a test run too, new tyres), but the only wave that was returned was a lad on a hybrid. :/

Up around the same area - from Glencree up to Sally Gap, back down Stocking Lane, back up and over to Enniskerry. A load of people out

Was in a group of three, one of the lads pulled something in his back - up around the Sally Gap - was touch and go whether he would be able to get back on the bike at all - took about 10 minutes before what seized loosened up. We walked a bit - fecking freezing up there this morning.

Great to see so many out though - was there something on?

Nice looking day out but it was much windier and colder than expected out around Meath/Kildare. I did pass quite a few ppl out.

Think the cycle to work scheme has alot to do with the high numbers of cyclists both out for a spin and commuting to and fro work.
That and obviously the weather is starting to get better and the evenings longer so that helps too.

I really can't wait for the crankset to arrive to put my bike on the road finally. The weather is too nice to be seating at home... :(.

I passed about 25 cyclists this morning around Cork whilst on a spin, it's amazing how busy the roads are, there is a real sense of spring in the air. There was a worrying lack of salutes or nods though, I'd say a 50% return at best.. Maybe this election stuff is getting to people!
