Rain Water Harvesting

With the proposed introduction in some areas of water meter charges has anybody built tanks for rain water harvesting from hay sheds or slatted sheds for water troughs for cattle. If so what kind of tank are they using to store water is it concrete or plastic, is it a gravity or pumped system and what is the cost involved. Pictures of system used would be great or is there any located in the Roscommon or surrounding counties. Thanks

    Gravity feed
Old SSteel milk lorry tank is a good one.
If you roll corn or dry corn in the yard the dust is a big no no, I think toxic bacteria grow in the water.
    Filter it for leaves etc.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

There is a talk of grants coming in for them before the middle of April so I'm sitting tight until then.

Grants coming through soon enough from what I've been hearing. Looking like bigger users are going to get priority for the grants though.
Rigged up a gravity system using a 1000 litre tank that I had left over after a house build a few years back. It's small but it has more than paid for itself over the last 2 years

We have a 600 gallon plastic tank filling of the slatted shed roof, gravity feeding drinkers in the shed, also have a large opening in it so I can fill IBC's with a submersible pump...
